How to Apply for NOC to Study Abroad from Nepal (2026)

Students must register on the official MoEST portal, upload the necessary academic and identity documents, pay the NPR 2,000 online fee, and submit their application in order to apply for a NOC online to study abroad from Nepal in 2026. The NOC is normally issued in three to five working days following verification. You must obtain an NOC from Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. This article gives a step-by-step process on how to apply for NOC online. Here, we have included required documents, application steps, and the latest updates for Nepali students.

What is NOC and Why is it important?

The MoEST issues an official approval letter known as a NOC (No Objection Certificate), which is issued to students and approves them to continue their study overseas. It formally certifies that the government has given you permission to use Nepali banks to lawfully send living expenses and tuition abroad.

Before applying for a student visa or transferring fees, all students pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or language program abroad shall have an NOC.

According to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) regulations, the NOC is also necessary for foreign currency exchange.

Who Needs a NOC in 2026?

In any of the following situations, you must apply for a NOC online in order to study abroad from Nepal:

  • If a foreign university or institution, CAS, or COE has sent you an offer letter,

  • if you are enrolled in language, bachelor’s, master’s, or diploma programs outside of Nepal,

  • if you are using an approved bank to transfer living expenses or tuition.

Both sponsored and self-funded students need to have an NOC.
