Viticulture or wine growing is the cultivation and harvesting of grapes. It is a department of the science of horticulture.
Viticulture is the study of the cultivation of grapes. The science of viticulture consists of both the study of wine grapes and how they grow. In addition, viticulture looks into the sequence of things to do which occur year-round in a vineyard establishing from the budding of the vine to harvest, to the practise of the vineyard for dormant months. Viticulture is used to describe two versions of the equal region – the making of wine and the study of winemaking, this time period refers to the latter.
In the wine industry, viticulture is the subject pertaining to any element related with the vineyard. It studies the grape vine itself, types of grapes, grape growth and improvement and the study of the local weather and geology where grapes live to tell the story and thrive best.
The study of viticulture encompasses the methods which take place in the vineyard, alongside with the budding of the vine, fruit set, varaison, canopy management, subject research in fruit improvement and balance, harvest and readying the vineyard for the winter months. Viticulture is a department of science concerned with horticulture.
