Thank you for providing me the opportunity to pen down my SOP to study the Master of Management for Engineers.

I am Applicant Name, born on D.O.B in Applicant Address. I am the youngest child of Parents Name. On Date, I got married to Spouse Name, daughter of Parents-in-law Name, a permanent resident of Spouse Address. Regarding my wife’s academic qualifications, she completed PCL Nursing in 2015 with first division from Institute Name, which is affiliated with the Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training (CTEVT). Currently, she is working as a Staff Nurse at Company Name, Location since December 18, 2016, in the Nephrology Ward.

My mother, Mother Name, is involved in business. My mother-in-law, Mother-in-law Name, runs a business named Company Name, in which my mother is a partner. My brother, Brother Name, is currently working as an Operation Manager at Company Name. My sister-in-law works at Company Name as a Senior Supervisor. My brother-in-law, Brother-in-law Name, is currently studying for a Bachelor of Environmental Science at University Name. I am writing to express my intention and motivation for applying to the Master of Management for Engineers at University Name.

I completed my School Leaving Certificate (S.L.C.) under the Government of Nepal Ministry of Education in Year from School Name, Location, achieving first division with a score of Score%. From a young age, I was passionate about science and technology. After completing my S.L.C., I enrolled in a technical course in civil engineering, which was a 15-month program. Unfortunately, due to family pressures, I was unable to complete this course, despite my strong desire to do so. The following year, I pursued higher secondary education with a science focus, keeping in mind my goal to complete a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. I secured second division with a score of Score% from College Name, Location in Year. As mentioned, my aspiration to study civil engineering led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the reputed University Name, Location. I graduated with first division on Date, achieving a CGPA of Score.

Four years of study in Civil Engineering I feel completely satisfied with my decision to choose engineering as my career option as it has revealed the most pragmatic and down to approach to tackling human problems to me. My decision to major in Civil Engineering is a direct result of my desire to contribute for the development of state of the infrastructure in my country.

After my bachelor degree, I work in Company Name as a Senior Site Engineer from Date to Date (Enclosed work experience letter). At first I was appointed as a trainee engineer, I had to go to the field most of the time as I was fresh engineer. It is essential to acquire the field knowledge. I did road survey as well as valuation in the field which was quite interesting for me because I was always keen demonstrate my knowledge in the field. I did survey of 12 K.M roads with my teammates in Dhading district and several property valuation work. After around 6 months I was appointed as a Senior Civil Engineer in Company Name. While working, I felt that technical skill is not sufficient to become successful. We need technical skill as well as management skill. So that I felt need of postgraduate qualification, I appeared IELTS on Date and scored overall X.X with individuals: All Band Score (Enclosed IELTS Score Card). I am applying to your University because of the reputation of your college. In addition, your splendid facilities are also a major attraction to me. In my experience as a student, I know for certain that good facilities can make difference in student’s life and learning experience. Nepalese Education system lacks infrastructures which are must for students to develop their professional and practical skills. Australian education system provides more practical approach and infrastructures that help students to enhance their academic knowledge coupled with practical. In Nepal it is difficult to find such type of courses since only 3 Universities namely Tribhuwan University, Pokhara University and Purbanchal University offer engineering programs. We cannot find Master of Management for Engineers or MBA for Engineers. The courses available are not specific professional and lacks updated syllabus and practical approach of learning. Also, the universities offering these courses do not provide proper facilities of library, laboratory and instruments failing to meet teaching standard as international Universities. Therefore, I decided to pursue Masters of management for Engineers from CQU, Australia.

Australia is one of the renowned destinations for international students who seek for quality education in a pragmatic approach. Additionally, Australia being an English speaking nation offers no language barrier. Moreover, Australia provides post study work (PSW) which is an opportunity for international students to gain experience on study related field. For my postgraduate program, I have visited different universities websites for fee structure, program structure, academic, IELTS requirement and location. I have visited different educational consultant regarding the University selection in Australia some of the university providing the same program are -University of Wollongong have master of Engineering management and the fee structure is AUD 36,768 location is Wollongong, -University of Technology Sydney offers Master of engineering (master of engineering management) course fee AUD 37,650 location is Sydney. In Melbourne, I found Master of engineering management but the fee structure is AUD 43,008 annually and the course duration is only one year, -Southern Cross University master of engineering management, fee is AUD 28,000 per annum. Looking all 11 universities which are providing the program master of engineering management, master of engineering management (master of business administration), master of management for engineers, I found Master of management for engineers in  University Name  is suitable for me looking at the fee structure, course structure, course duration and also  University Name  provided me 20% scholarship on the tuition fee.

I had been always curious for the world class institution that matches my field of interest. In Nepal, we cannot deny the fact that there are very few universities conducting master program with limited number of seats. So analyzing the researches I have been doing continuously for my course and keeping in consideration to my acquaintance, I chose  University Name  for acquiring the postgraduate study in the field I am willing to achieve. My bedrock to select this course started from here itself, with my interest in construction field that actually can carry out various works in daily life that too in imaginary time. Also my seniors gave an opinion that this field is having multiple opportunities for further studies and for the career opportunities. Finally, I decided that this group is win-win situation. Master of management for engineers is specially designed course for engineering graduates build link between engineering, technology and management. This course is mainly focus in managing and optimizing the output of engineering process using tools of business management. This degree is popular among the engineering graduates who want to get a higher management role in their company’s hierarchy. I have a strong technical background and a mathematically literate which I have acquired from my Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering. I am an eligible candidate for this course with sound academic background and English test score. I believe that one can uplift their career to new height if s/he acquires both the technical and managerial knowledge in this contemporary world. As we know, Nepal is a geographically challenged nation and infrastructure development is the foremost target of the people as well as government of Nepal. With increasing number of graduates every year, developmental works are taking good shape, but lack of management personnel to carry out specific task in best possible way is always been a great problem. But with every challenge, new opportunity comes around; I have to compete with few candidates for employment security in Nepal. I had the passion in the technical field since my childhood and I strongly believe gaining the knowledge of management in engineering field will help me to upgrade my managerial skills which will eventually lead to the achievement of my goals.

After graduation, I will be able to enrich the blend of advanced technical theorem with core business practices. I believe this course brings the best out of me to manage engineering projects in industry and government. I will be able to solve complex issues relating to best practices in design, and business. Being fluent in technical skills, human resources, market, supply chain, and leadership, I can bridge the communication gap between production floor and C-suite. With the best application of this degree, I will be able to evaluate and implement organizational process. I will be prepared with the know-how to move away from the day to day engineering work, expanding expertise and professional offering to effective management. With this qualification, I could take on an engineering manager role or senior engineering position. The job opportunities for Master of Management for Engineers graduates in Nepal are also high in Nepalese market. Instead of hiring two professional one from management and another from engineering, the technical industries prefer to hire engineers who can do dual work. Thus, I came to choose Master of Management for Engineers which I strongly believe is the best course for my postgraduate degree.

After completion of my Master of management for engineers, I will apply for the PSW which is two years’ program. During my PSW program, I will apply for the job using the link like www.seek.com.au, www.gumtree.com , www.jobrapido.com and so on, online job vacancy, paper advertisement, recruitment agencies and so on. I will try to find jobs in construction related companies in Brisbane like TPM Builders Pty Ltd., Woollam Constructions, MCD Construction and others. Two years of job experience will help me to get know how the organization works and the roles and responsibilities of engineers and how big projects are handled by Engineers in developed countries. I will also be able to know the time management system, also get some knowledge regarding the advanced technology used by the engineers in the developed countries. PSW will add an international value in my C.V. Graduating from the esteemed university with international degree and a professional experience from PSW, I want to devote myself filling the gaps in works and researches.

After completing the Master of Management for Engineers degree course, it will help me to develop knowledge and skills required for effective management and responsible leadership. This program is helpful for the student who likes to set up career in management field. This program helps engineers who want to seek professional development which helps them to open variety of employment opportunity. We can get full theoretical and practical knowledge regarding leadership, management governance, project management, system theory and strategic integration. Similarly, we will be qualified to manage engineering projects in industry and government. For the first few years, I would like to apply for the position of Assistant Project Manager in some reputed companies, or organizations to gain extra work experience and to know the real scenario. I expect to earn Nrs. 70,000 to Nrs. 80,000 per month in this stage. After some years of experience, I can expect growth in terms of position and salary with the help of my knowledge gained from Australia. I expect to earn more than Nrs. 1 Lakh per month if I could prove myself. I could be promoted to Senior Project Manager. I can find job vacancies in Nepal through online sites like kantipurjob.com, hamrojob.com, ramrojob.com and more. I would like to work in construction companies like Kalika Construction Pvt. Ltd., Lama Construction Pvt. Ltd., Sutra Construction and Designers, Green Design Nepal Pvt. Ltd., Global Impex International Pvt. Ltd. and more. In Nepal, more development works are taking place regarding construction. There are some multi-year projects which are considered as a pride of Nepal such as Gautam Buddha International Airport, Mid Hill Highway, Fast track Highway joining Tarai to Kathmandu, Cable car projects in different area of Nepal, Outer ring road project in Kathmandu Valley and more. This course gives more of a specialized skill set making a manager who takes decisions backed by sound numbers. This course is specially designed degree for the engineering graduates to build the link between engineering, technology and management.
