Aquaculture
Aquaculture
A specialized course under Agriculture, Environment and Veterinary Science
Course Details
Aquaculture is concerned with the cultivation of the natural inhabitants of water (such as fish or shellfish, algae and different aquatic plants). It is pretty similar to animal husbandry. Raising catfish and tilapia in freshwater ponds, growing cultured pearls, and farming salmon in net-pens set out in a bay are the examples of Aquaculture.
In Aquaculture, aquatic organisms are cultivated particularly for human consumption. It’s comparable to agriculture, but with fish instead of flora or livestock. Aquaculture is also referred to as fish farming. The seafood that you discover at your local grocery shop is possibly labeled as farmed fish. Aquaculture is famous all over the world. It is done in coastal ocean waters, freshwater ponds and rivers, and even on land in tanks.
