Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Studies plays a huge role in strengthening an organization’s cultural capability. This course is very informative regarding the vast history and cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginal Studies provides a vast understanding of the continent’s social, cultural and political heritage. The motive of the course is to encourage people to understand their own cultural perspectives so that effective interactions with people of (other) diverse backgrounds is maintained.
This course deals with a detailed exploration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and issues. It works as a means of enhancing cultural understanding; gaining a deeper sense of self-awareness and critical reflection. Participants are encouraged to undertake further study and activities, additional reading, and other resources are embedded throughout the course. One of the major objectives of this program is to examine the political, social, economic, cultural and historical context of Aboriginality and Aboriginal peoples in colonial and contemporary Australian society. It also encourages and supports research projects that are relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples and communities.
