American studies, also known as American civilization, examines American literature, history , society and culture. Students are required to study literary criticism, historiography and critical theory, along with research methods from a variety of other disciplines. This program covers a wide range of fields, but mostly examines the literary themes, histories of American communities, ideologies, or cultural productions such as American social movements, literature, media, tourism, folklore, and intellectual history. American Studies is basically the study of the history, culture, society, laws, foreign policy and politics of the US.
American Studies provides in-depth knowledge about the popular culture, politics, history, literature, economics, race relations, and religions of the United States. And you’ll study the connections between the Americas and the wider world.
